CCA Lagos is pleased to announce the mentors for The Synthesis, its year-long Crit-Lab and Mentoring Programme for emerging to mid-career artists, curators, and writers living and working in Nigeria.

Bringing together a wide range of practices, perspectives, and professional experiences, the mentors represent disciplines including architecture, sound, performance, curatorial practice, writing, photography, fashion, ceramics and sculpture, art criticism, exhibition design, film, and theatre.

Together, the twelve mentors bring a rich and multidisciplinary range of knowledge and experience to The Synthesis. Their diverse practices offer participants opportunities to encounter different approaches to artistic production, research, criticism, curating, exhibition-making, and cultural practice.

Throughout the year-long programme, the mentors will support participants through critical conversations, knowledge exchange, mentorship, and sustained engagement with their practices. The programme provides a space for participants to reflect deeply on their work, develop new perspectives, and strengthen their practices through ongoing dialogue with established practitioners and peers.

A Multidisciplinary Platform for Critical Exchange

At the heart of The Synthesis is the belief in the value of sustained critical engagement. By bringing together practitioners working across different disciplines, the programme creates opportunities for participants to explore ideas beyond the boundaries of their individual practices and to engage with diverse forms of knowledge and creative thinking.

The mentors’ combined expertise across the visual arts, architecture, sound, performance, fashion, writing, film, theatre, curatorial practice, and exhibition design will contribute to a dynamic environment for learning, experimentation, and exchange.
