The CCA Archive, spanning over 5 decades, follows the beloved arts custodian Bisi Silva’s journey across continents, documenting emerging and sustained arts histories to produce a layered narrative of Nigerian and global contemporary art.
Over the past six months, the inaugural @ccalagos x @goetheinstitut_nigeria Archives Residency has been devoted to exploring these materials: categorizing, ceptualizing, digitally preserving, and curating them into forms that invite new encounters.
The project asked urgent questions:
* What does archiving look like in both digital and African
contexts?
* How can we reclaim and make our histories sustainable?
* And how do we map the personal against the historical,
surfacing shared stories that live within the archive yet
often remain unspoken?
We invite you to join us in dialogue 22, September at 6PM for an Archivist Talk with the first cohort of the CCA x Goethe-Institut Archives Residency and curators of ‘A Collective Remembering’: Jini Agbu Amanda Madumere, and Rasak Akorede, as they open the floor for a shared exploration of these questions and reflect on the processes of discovery, challenge and learning brought about during this project.
This event is free and open to all.
