The second session of the Unfinished Conversations Book Club came and went, but the conversations it sparked are still running.

On the 29th of May, 2026, at the Centre for Contemporary Arts, Lagos, a room full of readers gathered to discuss Tsitsi Dangarembga’s book, This Mournable Body, and what followed was the kind of discussion that is difficult to plan for—honest, layered, and at times uncomfortable in the best way. This edition of the Unfinished Conversations Book Club was chaired by Chinyere Obieze.

Memory, identity, survival, postcolonial realities — the novel carries all of it, and so did the room.

People read closely, listened carefully, and pushed the dialogue into places it needed to go. That back and forth, that willingness to sit with difficult ideas together, is exactly what this book club exists for. The third session is coming soon. We hope you’ll be there.
