In an upcoming presentation titled I Heard and I Branched Myself into the Party, renowned artist Ogunji will delve into the evolution of her performance practice. The discussion will encompass her diverse body of work, including endurance-based performances, public actions, and video art.

Ogunji will also reflect on the pivotal moment that reshaped her artistic language, which occurred during her first visit to Nigeria in 2011. A transformative conversation with the late curator Bisi Silva profoundly shifted Ogunji’s understanding of local aesthetics and has continued to influence her work ever since.

Following the presentation, Ogunji will engage in a conversation with artist Taiwo Aiyedogbon, with whom she first collaborated during a performance workshop at Yaba Tech. This dialogue promises to explore both artists’ shared history and the evolution of their respective practices.

This event offers a unique opportunity for audiences to gain insight into Ogunji’s creative journey and the ongoing impact of her experiences on her art.
