The CCA Archives Project, in partnership with @ccalagos and @goetheinstitut_nigeria, is proud to present ‘A Collective Remembering’ – a journey through the life-long collection of memories, history, and artistic legacy which shape our shared gaze.
This exhibition traces the threads of the Nigerian contemporary arts and curatorial imagination, both at home and in the diaspora, through the enduring vision of the late, beloved arts custodian, Bisi Silva.
A Collective Remembering honours the intricate weaving of lived experience into collective memory. It explores what becomes possible when we shift our focus from shared geography to shared sensibility, from the local to the global, and back again. Through curated archival installations, artworks and digital interventions, the exhibition reflects Bisi Silva’s distinctive curatorial ethos in dialogue with the communities, past, present, and emerging, that shaped and were shaped by her.
Join us for our opening night on the 21st of August, 2025 at the 4th Floor, Centre for Contemporary Art, Lagos, to be accompanied by an Archivists’ Talk and the launch of the CCA Archives Digital Memory Map.
The exhibition is then open daily from 10am to 4pm at CCA Lagos until the 21st September, 2025.
