“Wind, Chimes, Gongs and Bells”
Date: August 22 – October 11, 2025
Venue: Centre for Contemporary Art, Lagos – 9 McEwen Street, Yaba
Get ready for an extraordinary sonic experience this August as The Listening Biennial returns with its much-anticipated Satellite Programme in Lagos, titled “Wind, Chimes, Gongs and Bells.” Running from August 22 to October 11, 2025, the programme invites audiences to tune in – quite literally – to the deep and resonant power of sound as a form of art, protest, memory, and healing.
The lineup brings together an incredible gathering of sound artists and thinkers, including Ana Bravo Perez, Ayo Akinwande, Dunja Herzog, Eythar Gubara, Simone Goslinga, and Son Ghewa aka SONXSEED. Plus, there’ll be a special presentation of audio works from On Third Listening, adding more layers to an already rich programme.
Opening Day Highlights – August 22:
At 5 PM: Public Opening & Curatorial Presentation by Bukola Oyebode-Westerhuis
At 6 PM: Live performance and activation of a new work by Dunja Herzog — expect an immersive sonic experience you won’t forget.
More to come:
On August 29 at 6 PM, don’t miss the Sonic Session with the Lagos Sound Artists Collective, a gathering of experimental sound makers that promises to stretch your ears and minds.
In September (date to be announced), an online talk titled “Crisis as the Ground for Reinvention” will offer critical reflection on how listening practices can respond to — and grow from — social and political crises.
Whether you’re a sound art enthusiast, an experimental music lover, or simply curious about how we listen and why it matters, this is a season not to miss.
