As part of our engagement marking the Lagos Gallery Weekend, which happened on the 7th of March 2026, CCA Lagos organised a creative workshop on letter writing.
A workshop we titled “Dear Lagos”. Anchored by Osarenti Mary Omoregie, CCA Lagos invited participants to reflect on their personal emotions and connections to the bustling and busy city of Lagos.
Mary encouraged the participants to put down their first thoughts and feelings about Lagos on paper. Further stating that they should describe their feelings and experiences in a brief letter addressed to the state government.
A collective reflection of the thoughts of the participants was now documented together to form a collective poem, creating a powerful artistic representation of Lagos as seen through each of the participants’ voices.
CCA Lagos designed this workshop to merge art and literature, offering space for storytelling and creative expression. To also create further engagement with the public, we have asked the public through our social media channels to tell us what Lagos means to them.
