“Mark your calendars for the upcoming exhibition, “The Oceans and the Interpreters,” coming to Lagos, Nigeria on the 28th of October, 2023. This exhibition, influenced by Wole Soyinka’s The Interpreters, delves into the complexities of African-Asian relationships and their artistic interpretations.
Curated by Nobuo Takamori, this exhibition showcases the artwork of various artists from different countries, including Malaysia, Korea, Vietnam, and Greece. The event will take place at two prestigious venues- Yaba Art Museum at Yaba College of Technology and MADHOUSE at the University of Lagos.
The exhibition opening takes place on the 28th of October, where visitors can join a curator tour. The exhibition will be open to the public from 11am to 4pm, Monday to Saturday.
In addition to the exhibition, there will be a series of special events, including a cooking workshop hosted in collaboration with the Yaba Art Museum and Yaba College of Technology’s Department of Hotel and Catering. The workshop, led by artists Chang En Man and Temitayo Ogunbiyi, will feature a unique snail cuisine cooking experience.
Other events include a Currency E-Waste workshop, open to E-workers and Yaba Tech students, which aims to tackle the issue of electronic waste.
