Highlights from the Tie-Dye Tying workshop held as part of the Òwú. Fil. Faden. Thread. exhibition programming.
Participants explored tying techniques alongside meaningful conversations around textiles, the body, and heritage.
Led by Yusif Sani Said, fifth-generation tie-dye practitioner from the historic Kofar Mata Dye Pits in Kano (est. 1498). Interlude sessions with Tracian Meikle invited reflection on movement, migration, and material exchange, recognising tying as an act of resistance and reclamation.
A powerful extension of the exhibition.
