The Nigerian visual art sector is predominantly conservative with most artists working in the traditional media of painting and sculpture and little or no knowledge or experience of artistic practices that use digital technology. With a view to encouraging and supporting artists interested in exploring different possibilities especially in the area of new media and other experimental artistic practices, each year the Centre for Contemporary Art, Lagos intends to initiate an in-depth focus on one medium.
